Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma had a dream to become an actor since she was six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy which offers classes for part-time students. The actress had performed in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions when she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film on the screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its opening day opening and opening weekend takings. Reviewers have been highly lauding the film and the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing".
